Monuments for Fishes
Ellis Engineered is proud to have provided composite engineering to Monuments for Fishes by Mikala Dwyer at Watermans Cove, Barangaroo South.
The artwork is recognised as one of the largest permanent floating kinetic artworks in the world, with five sculptural monuments rising from Sydney Harbour and responding to the surrounding tide, wind and currents.
Constructed from carbon fibre and fibreglass, the project brought together art, marine engineering and composite construction at a significant scale.
Ellis Engineered’s involvement focused on composite engineering of the floating FRP structures and key structural interfaces, supporting the delivery of an artwork designed for long-term exposure in a demanding marine environment.
Congratulations to Mikala Dwyer, Event Engineering, Innovation Composites, Lendlease and the broader group of Australian specialist contractors involved in the project.
